  • Initially conducted exclusively for final year postgraduate students (M.S/ DNB/ D.Ortho) in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the PARVATHY-SSKM Gold Medal Exam has expanded its reach to encompass all final year postgraduate students across India since 2019.

About Professor
Dr S.S.K.Marthandam

(1941-2011)

Professor Dr. S.S.K. Marthandam began his illustrious career at the Primary Health Centre in the district of Tirunelveli, followed by positions at the Government General Hospital and the Government Royapettah Hospital in Chennai. His journey then led him to Sri Ramachandra University, where he distinguished himself as the Vice-Chancellor.

Renowned as a trusted consultant to many Chief Ministers and politicians across the country, Prof. S.S.K. Marthandam was instrumental in developing several pioneering techniques and therapies for orthopedic diseases and disorders.

As a distinguished surgeon who effectively translated research from bench to bedside, he was a pioneer in cell-based therapeutics for arthritis. His groundbreaking work on human chondrocyte culture paved the way for the transplantation of cartilage tissues in thousands of arthritis patients.

Key features of Parvathy - SSKM Gold Medal Exam 2025

ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION

  • All final year PG (MS/DNB/D.Ortho) students completing their course in 2025 are eligible to take the exam.
  • Registration is mandatory and must be completed online on or before 10.02.2025. There is no registration fee.

Submission of Bonafide Certificate

  • All participants must submit a ‘Scanned Bonafide Certificate’ attested by the HOD/Unit Chief via email to parvathygoldmedalexam@gmail.com
  • The Bonafide Certificate must be submitted on or before 10.08.2024.
  • Once the submitted information is verified, you will be eligible to appear for the exam

Important Points to Remember

  • Since the exam is on virtual, please make sure you have a stable internet connection while attending the exam.
  • Since this exam assesses students for their approach towards practical orthopedic surgery, there is no need for special or additional preparation. It can be attempted while pursuing regular academic education.

    Exam Structure

    Stage I: Screening Test - 21 & 23 february 2025

    • The screening test will be held in the third week of February 2025 (Provisional Dates: 21/02/25 (Friday)  & 23/02/25 (Sunday)) on two different days.
    • Two sets of question papers will be provided, ensuring that candidates receive different sets of questions each day.
    • Candidates can choose to appear for the exam on either of the mentioned dates at their convenience.
    • The exam will be conducted online, and a link will be sent to all eligible candidates well in advance.
    • After analyzing the results, the top 20 students will be selected for Stage II.

    Stage II: Final Exam - 02 march 2025

    • Date: 02 March 2025 (Provisional Date)
    • The selected 20 candidates will participate in the preliminary test through a video call (OSCE) on a one-on-one basis in the morning session.
    • The top 5 candidates from the preliminary test will proceed to the Viva round.
    • The Viva will be conducted via Zoom meeting by 4 examiners.
    • The winner will receive the Gold Medal along with a cash prize of INR 75,000 and a 2-week observation at Parvathy Hospital, Chennai.
    • All other candidates who attended the exam will receive a participation certificate.
